Our Story
The Centre for Dalit Rights (CDR) is a beacon of hope and justice for Rajasthan’s Dalit communities. Founded in 2003, CDR was born from the urgent need to confront deep-rooted caste discrimination that persisted despite constitutional guarantees. What began as a small group of passionate advocates has grown into a dynamic network of over 5,000 members—legal experts, journalists, academics, activists, and volunteers—united by a vision of equality and dignity for all. For over two decades, CDR has stood as the amplifying voice of Dalits, using strategic legal action, bold intervention, and grassroots mobilization to challenge injustice and transform lives. We are especially committed to amplifying the voices of Dalit women and children, who face multiple layers of discrimination and vulnerability. Their stories and struggles are at the heart of our mission.
